What Sayest Thou?

The Lord’s enemies, acting as always hypocritically, presented to Him the woman taken in adultery, reminded Him of the law of Moses, and asked His opinion on what ought to be done with her.  It is clear, even if John had not told us, that they were setting a trap.  But our Lord, as so often, did not respond as they might have anticipated, but instead knelt down and began writing on the ground.  What this signifies is hard to say, but there are lessons and applications from this passage which remain important to this very day for the people of God.
